back in black
So after some time off of both my blogging endeavors, blogspot and tumblr, I realized I definitely prefer tumblr more, even though blogspot is just for blogs, and tumblr is for a variety of things it would seem.
Inspiration is a funny thing; it can sneak up in the most subtle of ways, or it can come at you in the obvious. Inspiration came to me from the latter a couple days ago, when I purchased a hardcover coffee table book featuring designers’ sketchbooks. Duh. I’m a designer, so I need to start a sketchbook. It was nice to see all the different ways designers used their sketchbooks. Some had cloth and drawings, some had cut outs and drawings, some had nothing that seemed to do with clothing or fashion at all, and others just looked like dark works of art. The dark works of art definitely reminded me of Goya, after he went deaf, even though they really didn’t look anything like the work of Goya. I guess it was just a feeling.
So anyway, I’m feeling proud and inspired, and I purchased myself a special limited edition Star Wars Moleskine to do sketching of my very own. I think I’ll have a little of everything, if truth be told. Cut outs, fabrics, etc. I’m drawn to so many different things. Example, I LOVE Shabby Chic. I also love campy 70s and 80s horror. Those two things really couldn’t be more different, but I don’t think style should necessarily emulate just ONE of my inspirations.
Midterm season has descended, much earlier than I expected, and it will leave me much later than expected too. It’s a long season of studying, procrastinating, and probably getting around to all those other things I just couldn’t do before, but have suddenly become so important I just HAVE to do it before I study.
I am proud to announce that so far, I have all As under my belt and documented in the gradebooks, so I must be doing something right.
